Good point about Bjugstad. I didn’t really think Simon being tried to potentially trade Bjugstad.

Completely forgot about Kahun in my lineup.

Maybe a package of Bjugstad, Jarry, and Rust for a player/cap space. Maybe a good Defenseman to bump JJ out. I think if Simon could show he is useful much like RW elluded to and Penguins want him as our 3rd C. I could see them even bumping Bjugstad to winger. I could see Lafferty or Adam Johnson bumping Rust for a spot on the team. I hope they give Riikola a chance to earn a starting spot. He looked good against Buffalo.

All eyes on Geno and his wingers. If they can find some chemistry could make for an interesting season. Drop the puck already!

I think a Rust-Blueger-Tanev line would be awesome.

I think I’d like Johnson on that line because all 3 of those dudes would be stupid quick. Not that Bleuger is a slouch but I think Johnson is quicker.

Not that I’d be mad with either.

He’s definitely faster, but not sure yet how their other attributes measure up.

BOL in moving Bjugstad at 4.1 as there wont be a lineup of teams with room for that in their cap.

Judging at the number of teams deficient in a good 3C I don’t think he’d be hard to move.

I am VERY interested in watching a JJ/EG third pairing for obvious reasons 😂 the blogs for this season could be intense

You want to continue the Crosby at center experiment?

Going on the idea that Galch will be with Geno at least for a while...

Kahun-Sid-Jake
Simon-Geno-Galch
McCann-Bjug-Horn
Rust-Blue-Tanev
ZAR/Johnson

If Johnson really shines they need to shed ZAR from this roster.

Ulitmately, and this is not for RW, but isn’t the goal to move a player and attach JJ? So if you are employing DS at center to move Bjugstad and/or Rust you have to take a little less to shoehorn JJ into the deal, right?

Seems like not many people are putting much stock in Rust. I still think there’s a decent chance he turns into a 25+ goal guy this year on the top line. He paced 20 last season. Curious on how others feel now that Petts is locked up

He paced 20 but went months without a goal it seemed. I remember thinking he seemed very snake bit alot last year. Did his shooting % plummet at all last year ?

Anyways, I'm in the Rust club and would love to keep him.

Locked up for a whole year? The cheap bridge deal you scoffed at me for?

Pens lucked out. They’ll have the option in January to go for the bigger deal and have a few months to test the waters.

Rust seems like a 2nd half of the season kind of guy. I don’t mind that if he shows up in the playoffs.

I don’t think anyone is counting him out, but I think they’re testing out the new blood first.

Speaking of WAR models, Dom at the Athletic has been revealing his teams from worst to first based on his version. Today was the Caps at 9th. Pens still not listed, so top 8 team. Maybe not as bad as all the doomsayers think
- Tojo.

I think there's way too much doom and gloom around the Pens. There's a lot to like about this team. Faster, more versatile forward group. Obviously the D has a couple of obstacles (one significant obstacle), but I think a deal or two will change that at some point.

Rust was dead the 2nd half of the season last year lol

Edit: I lied. 19 in first half. 16 in second half. Tailed off hard at the end of the season though.

Yeah? My memory is shot then. I for some reason remember him being a ghost in October and November.

EDIT: I guess he was more midseason. He had 1 goal combined in Oct/Nov.
